A couple 100 years ago I used an Ibanez TS10 Tube Screamer and CS9 Stereo Chorus, with the chain being in that order, then leading into a solid state Echoplex, then into a Musicman 112 RP amp. The Tube Screamer was essential to the sound I wanted, as the amp was incapable of distorting in a pleasing way. I had a moderately overdriven sound, rather than a heavier distorted sound. The TS10 didn't do the big OD well.

Now I play through a PodXT, which does everything I need, and more, including emulating that Hiwatt amp I have always wanted, but haven't wanted to carry. It goes direct into the PA, so we have minimal stage volume.

1) Do you play electric guitar?
yes, occasionally.

2) Do you use pedals?
yes, occasionally

3) What is your pedal layout?
Different depending on how I'm feeling :-)

4) What's your favorite OD/Distortion pedal?
Probably the Boss BD-2 Blues Driver.

5) Do you use, or have you used a Delay? If so - which one do you like?
The one in the Rocktron Chameleon 2000

6) Do you use, or have you used a Compressor? If so - which one do you like?
I have used one, either the Rocktron or the Behringer rack one.

7) What pedal can you not live without?
Chromatic Tuner! On stage I can't always hear fine tuning, so the tuner pedal with the bright visible tuning indicators is fantastic.

8) What pedal is incredibly fun but has limited real use?
The fixed interval harmonizer set to anything other than octaves.

I am about to commit heresy. I don't use any pedals. I pretty much only play electric in the studio these days, and I use plug-ins fro everything. I hang my head in shame...:-).

You need not feel shame.

I was, for a long time, a "no pedals" guy as well. I thought the tone between guitar and amp was sacred and anything else was cheating.

However, now I see things a little differently. :) In the studio I use either my Pod Pro XT, Guitar Rig, or my Roland VG-88. On stage, I use too many pedals in order to do sound tailoring yet still use my cool tweed tube amp.

You're still the boss - no matter your pedal layout. :)

Yes, but for $6000 I'll stick with pedals for a while. :D
