Cast Iron Composer

I'm sure this has appeared in Journals before, but I didn't find any on my initial perusing, so I'm just going to make it up. :)

Reply to this message with the subject matter of a song you think should be written, and I will write it.

-- 1) Subject matter should preferably be fairly specific. For instance "love" is not a very good subject for this exercise.
-- 2) Subject matter could be a plot or plot piece. (ie: "Medieval Wizard lives forever, he shows up in an American "Wild West" Town")
-- 3) Subject matter does not have to be long or short, just whatever you feel is appropriate.

I reserve the right to ask questions if something is either not clear, or I need some clarification for my writing brain.

I reserve the right to not write a piece if my Muse is on vacation that day.

I reserve the right to add to the above list of clarifications if I believe it will become necessary.

Generally, I reserve all my rights. :)

Now - let's see what happens.....

I'd like a song about one of the feygrass singers from the circle (NOT the human from Feygrass), who's stowed aboard a starship ;)

The Ballad of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Petal the princess is longing to be with her beloved 24/7.

The only thing keeping them apart is a large set of human rules and laws.

An alien musician/sound engineer who registers notes as colors, not as sound; he thus composes/mixes based on what it looks like.

Speaking of which, while at LosCon, in the dealers room, at the filk recording table, I searched for, and found, recordings by you from the past.

I'm curious, do you receive any kind of residuals from sales of such things?

Write a song about endlessly searching for a specific filk song at convention after convention.

A doomed love story about one half of a couple who, after a terrible argument, signs up for a near light speed round trip to Alpha Centauri and who realises six months out that they can't live without their other half, but that by the time they'd slow down, turn around and head back, 20 years (or more) would have passed back at Earth

#2's been done before - and I doubt you could out-do it. ;)

So let's try one written from the perspective of the on-board AI on a voyage out of the solar system, where the crew is roused from hyper-sleep for a few days out of each year.

I'm thinking a blues number, but hey - you're the musical one.

Heh, the pleadings of the randy nobleman captured by pirates who really, really wants to be turned into the crew's cabin boy, and the pirates' apprehensions....?

So, how about a song about the Sword of Shannara being beaten into a plowshare? (this is courtesy of my husband)

I suspect he will show up here with other ideas, himself :-)

If you know Charles DeLint's work, a song about any of his stories/characters? Perhaps a song about Jilly?

A song about how wolves were vilified in Europe for centuries, (but honoured by the Native Americans), and how their real natures are way different from the vicious killers myth?
