I need a shave

I've recently contributed a bunch of "deep thoughts" to a book on game design and audio, and I'm getting a bio and my picture in the book for my efforts.

Of course, the writer contacted me and said they needed a headshot "by tonight" *sigh*. I suppose if I was more professional, I'd have a stack of these handy. But since I don't - I rushed home, grabbed the camera and snapped this:

My bad headshot

I wished I was prettier, but this is pretty much how I look these days. *sigh* I'm glad to have the place in the book, but I just feel completely unprepared.

Oh well - the good news is the Blackberries are coming in nicely. :)

You look fine.

Blackberries as in small fruits, or small electronic email devices?

Blackberries as in small tasty fruits. :) We have a sizeable bramble in our backyard and all the fruit is in the process of ripening. We probably are going to get a basket or two a day for the next several weeks.

Yum. :)

Oooh.....*Mary thinks of making blackberry jelly*

If you happen to make blackberry jelly, bring some to OVFF and I'll trade you for some grape jelly made from the grapes in our backyard.

I would say "alternately, freeze a couple bags, send 'em, and I'll make it" but the logistics of that would be...tricky.

Actually not that tricky. All we'd need is to include a block of dry ice and then make sure the box is sealed.

Or, you can tell me your secrets of canning and I can do it and then bring you some.

That'd be a good Interfilk donation too eh? Homemade blackberry preserves from our own blackberries?

1) Either own or borrow canning apparatus.
2) Buy canning jars. Lots of them, depending on the size.
3) Buy pectin. Follow the recipe included with the pectin.
4) Have a second person there to help you when you do the actual simmering. You'll find a use for them - trust me.
5) If it's like the grape juice, a layer of bubbly froth will form on top. After simmering the requisite amount of time, turn down the heat to low and gently push the froth together. It should stick together well enough within a minute that you can scoop most of it out easily. If you leave it in, it makes the jelly look mucky.

If you were a working actor, you'd have headshots. I order mine in lots of 500 for auditions and digital files for when that's needed. There's a little too much shadow on the left-hand side of the photo, but for a quick n' dirty headshot, it'll be just fine. If they print it in black and white, it'll look really good.

Yes, we got ours from Jet Photo, which (at least then) had one of the best prices in the country.

Yah know, when Scott was studying acting and needed headshots he had a really great one. Where is that now I wonder? I know where the small one is. We should post that.

You wish you were prettier??????
How many hearts do you wish to break?

Breaking hearts was never one of my best sports - I have the typical story: geek unliked, socially outcast, blah blah blah...

However, I appreciate your appreciation. :) Thank you.

I wished I was prettier

Greedy b*****d.

You want instrumental perfection, a beautiful wife, a really cool daughter, mad audio skillz, and to look better than you already do?

Is that too much to ask? :)

Actually, I thought it had that "terrorist with hostages just out of frame" look, but perhaps I'm just being overly humble.

Thank you for the kind words, sir. :)

"I wished I was prettier..."??!?!?!

You look pretty yummy, Scott, gotta say. But maybe you don't want to look yummy for a book?

I think I'm getting the picture (yuk yuk) and I thank you for the compliment.

I still wish I had shaven (shaved? shorn?) beforehand. :) But if y'all think it's good - then I believe you. :)

Thanks again. You really made my day.

(Debbie thinks I'm yummy! :D )

heh.
My first thought was "gee, looks like a game developer." My second thought was, "good god, Scott's always such a cutie. Like that haircut on him."
Third thought was "gadamn, it's been awhile since we've seen all of them."

Miss you guys. Hugs to Mandy-poo and the Zoester. And you, of course. ;)

I wished I was prettier... I'm sure you weren't fishing for compliments however, since it seems to be compliment season who am I to buck the trend? ;-)

I am quite sure I am in very good company of several women and probably not a few men when I say that you have always been one of the more visually appealing men in filk. Certainly you are one of the snappiest dressers, those flame shoes! ah... I have a fantasy that involves you, Amanda (who, after all, is quite babalicious and a fantastic dresser herself) and Michael Longcor.

No - really! I just want to look at you guys - really. (evil grin)

Oh and - really - it's a fine picture and by the time it is in black and white and reduced for the book will be quite nice for the book.
