It occurred to me, while contemplating that I now have a son... that with all the advances in medical technology that we enjoy today, to find the sex of our offspring we still effectively lift their tails and look between their legs. Maybe we haven't come as far as we think. :)

Well, there are other more "advanced" methods, (based on urine or cerebral spinal fluid) but, as they say - keep it simple, stupid.

If it is easier to carry the chair across the room there's no need to try to move it mentally.
If it is easier to look at the baby, there's no need to stick someone with a long needle and do chemical testing.
